Which champagnes to gift and pop this holiday season
The season of popping champs in celebration of spending time with loved ones & the beginning of a new year has officially begun! Champagne is also a great gift to give your hostess, a wine connoisseur or your newly engaged/married friends! I’ve asked my in-house wine consultant & collector (aka my husband) to put together a list of champagne recommendations at different price points. Before I start, I want to note that these recommendations are for people over their country’s legal drinking age limit and I do not condone underage drinking. Now that that “fun” part is out of the way - let’s get popping!
Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne - Clean & fresh style of lemon & lime notes while still creamy thanks to a nice dosage of sweetness.
Piper Heidsieck Brut Champagne - Good acidity balanced with sweetness. Nice to start festivities with a little toast, great for parties.
Gosset Grande Reserve Brut Champagne - No Malolactic fermentation, crisp acidity with ripe fruit - aged much longer than most NV champagne. This is a personal favorite!
Pol Roger Brut Champagne - Rich with long creamy finish - amazing with oysters & shrimp cocktail.
Bollinger Brut Special Cuvee Champagne - 85% of fruits comes from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. Fine bubbles with brioche notes mixed with ripe fruits - amazing champagne house!
Mailly Brut Réserve Grand Cru Champagne - Aperitif style with high minerality. Great expression of Pinot Noir dominant Champagne.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne - Structured with rose petal and strawberry - give it a try with caviar!
2015 Maurice Grumier Les Plates Pierres - Crisp acidity mixed with white fruits - try it with Shellfish or Lobster you won’t be disappointed.
Pommery Cuvee Louise Champagne 2005 - Vintage champagne - only made in the best years. Buttery notes on the notes & on the palette very balanced & smooth, with great minerality & a soft finish.
De Venoge Grand Vin des Princes Blanc de Blancs Champagne - 100% Chardonnay, crisp & tight with high minerality. Dry with green apple.
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 - Very fine bubbles, mostly pinot noir grape with great minerality & a long finish
Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Brut Champagne - Creamy, white fruit - very balanced.
Ruinart Rose Champagne - Sweet, red fruit - tastes like pure strawberry - with a soft finish. Perfect for an opening cheers or to go with dessert!
Coravin Coravin Sparkling Stoppers
are a great option if you can't finish the bottle - it'll hold the bubbles until you're ready to open it back up!
