My advice for current and future brides

Wedding season is upon us! As a somewhat recent bride, I thought it would be fun to share a few tips for brides before their wedding day.
Before I get started, I just want to say congratulations! Your wedding day is going to be beautiful and magical because it will be a representation of what is important to you and your spouse - so many times we all worry about what other people think but this is your day and no one can take that away from you.

1. Don't let anyone make you feel like you have to do anything you don't want to... Do what YOU want on your day. If you want to get ready by yourself--do it. If you want all your girls there with you while you get ready--do it! I chose to just get ready with my MOH and mom--it was perfect for me.
2. Have a bag to put your belongings in on your wedding day. Odds are, the room you get ready in is probably not where you'll be ending the night and the last thing you'll be thinking about is "where did I put my speaker/computer/getting ready fit etc?" Make sure you have a bag where everything can go and designate a person to be in charge of making sure the bag ends up in the right place at the end of the night. Looking for the bridal themed bag? Check out our bridal totes--proudly made in the USA and designed by women!

3. Traditional vs. Modern? I see a lot of back and forth on bridal pages about going more traditional vs. modern (ie. doing a first look or waiting for the ceremony). Don't be afraid to do something because of what other people think--one isn't better than the other, just pick what's right for you and your groom!
4. Wedding shoes... When looking for shoes, I highly recommend looking for something with mesh rather than leather. I wore mesh Manolo Blahniks for my ceremony & reception and they didn't hurt the whole night! The mesh is not only softer and more flexible, but also more breathable! Here are a couple of different mesh options I've found...
5. Speaking of feet hurting... Before my wedding day, I received a tip from someone that was a game changer! I learned that models use lidocaine spray on their feet--I know, sounds weird right? It totally works! I sprayed my feet before putting my shoes on for the ceremony and once before the reception and my feet were good to go for the rest of the night--so much so that when I changed into higher heels for my after party I was good to dance the night away! With that being said, please do your due diligence before using the spray--it is a medical spray that numbs whatever you apply it to so please read all warnings and instructions before use!
6. Be disconnected... One of the many things I was grateful for on our wedding day was being totally disconnected from anything going on outside of the wedding. Neither of us had our phones with us the whole time and it was such a blessing to be so present in our commitment to each other as well as being able to really enjoy being with all the people who had travelled near and far to celebrate with us.
